When it comes to plumbing and many other things, there are certain things that we feel are necessary. One of the things that may surprise you is that there are many uses of a simple two way valve. People use them in the automotive world, food and beverage serving, power generation, marine use, and most often water treatment or waste industries. Without these valves, it would be virtually impossible to have indoor plumbing that functions the way we want it to.
How We Use Two Way Valves
In most applications, we use a two way ball valve when we want water or gas to be fully on or fully off. With a simple twist of the nob, water can be turned on or diverted to other areas. Think of your home’s main water line. Where water from the outside comes in. If you have a problem with your water line inside or under your home, you may need to shut off the water going to your home. It can be done easiest if you have a single valve that you can turn off.
There are also times when we use a two way ball valve as a hot/cold water system. This valve may be placed by the hot water heater, under sinks, behind toilets, and any number of other places. They are in homes, offices, and warehouses, etc. Anywhere that there is water or septic systems.
Signs Your Valve Needs Replaced
Issues with a water line can be a big deal. Too much water pressure can cause damage, not enough can cause other problems. It may also be an indicator of problems that you never would have imagined.
If your home or office does not have water pressure, your two way valve could be partially turned off. Perhaps a dog bumped against the main shut off valve for your home. Usually, it will take more than a bump to turn it, but you have to start somewhere. This is an easy place to begin and it can allow you to turn it off to prevent other problems that may come from no water pressure. When you have lessened water pressure, it is most of the time a leak somewhere. Turning off the main valve will stop the leak before it can cause damage to your walls, flooring, counters and more.
